Big Names
Hello Cell. How had all your week been? What had the Lord shown you about Himself this week?
I am posting about certain very well know Christians who is in town recently - namely Benny Hinns; as well as Reinhard Boonke who was in Singapore last year. They are big name evangelist and miracle workers. It is said that there are millions who came to Christ in their crusades as well as miracles which happened. I went through a period of time last year when I was very uncertain, bordering on disbelieving their miracles or questioning their source of power for the miracles. That was affected in part by certain articles about them. Now, while I know that these are probably biased (either by non-believers or conservative believers), it is different to say to give the article no weight as compared to inconclusive weight.
But not so this year. Somehow, through the year, I had stopped doubting them. Now, I am still unable to say with certainty that they did miracles etc, but no longer do I question it (there is a difference between skepticism and being unsure). Why this is so, I am not so able to explain.
Still, you will not find me at the Indoors Stadium. One of the reason is that the Miracles and the Big events are excellent kindling or Faith Starters, but not so much for other purposes. Growing in the Lord is not essentially about seeing miracles and thus believing. I think it has more to do with waking up in the morning, and walking with God in spite of everything. We do not learn patience in the midst of miracles - we learn it by struggling through the day. But we will be in no position to struggle through the day without first believing in the Lord. And that is what the miracles faith starters can help with. After all, it is about as close to "empirical evidences" as we would get, and so many demand.
But I wonder, what is different about these people that allow miracles to happen in their presence? Put it this way. A person who goes for healing. Why does God work there and not elsewhere? Is it not the person's faith that heals him (as opposed to say, Benny Hinn's). We can say that going up is an act of faith. But how is it different from going up to God in Church or even your bedroom? In fact, I would say that the latter 2 requires even more faith, as you do not have that much prior cases of successful healing. Now, I know that the New Testament records such methods of healing (like Peter and Paul). But I still wonder why...
Hmm...
Thats all for now :) See you tomorrow.
